Easter basket gifts your kids will use and love

Easter Basket Gifts your kids will actually use

Hi Friends,

I’ve been working on Easter baskets this week. I want them to feel special, but I also want the things inside to get used long after the candy is gone. Spring and summer are busy for us, so I leaned into outdoor play and a few creative favorites that I know won’t get broken or donated within a few weeks.

I hope these ideas help you out too!

Outdoor Fun Favorites

Rain Boots

Spring is muddy and unpredictable. A cute pair of rain boots makes puddle jumping feel like an adventure instead of a mess. These light up, which my kids love!

Sunglasses

These always end up in the car, in backpacks, and on the driveway during bike rides. Practical, but still exciting for kids to get in an Easter basket.

Light-Up Scooter

This feels like a bigger surprise gift, but it is one that actually gets used. The light up wheels make evening rides extra fun, and it is something they will enjoy all spring and summer.

Light-Up Basketball

Such a fun twist on a classic. Ours gets used in the driveway and during late evening games when its dark.

Water Guns

Simple and guaranteed fun. These come out the first warm day and get played with all summer long.

Reusable Water Balloons

These are so much easier than traditional water balloons. There are no tiny plastic pieces everywhere, and they can be used again and again all summer.

Bubble Machine

I love bubble machines because they buy me time. It runs on its own, fills the yard with bubbles, and keeps everyone entertained without constant refilling.

Egg Chalk

I've given these to my kids in past Easters and they were a hit. They are easy for kids to hold in their hands and who doesn't love chalk shaped like an egg?

ThermKids Rain Jackets

We have used ThermKids rain jackets for 4 years. We have taken them to Costa Rica, California, Florida, Minnesota, South Dakota… basically everywhere! I love the fleece-lined ones for early spring and fall and the packable ones for our summer adventures! They are affordable, great quality, sustainable, and comfortable! They are also great at blocking the wind, which is something Midwestern kids need. Use code OUTDOORFAM to get 10% off. Get yours HERE.

Creative and Indoor Play

Crayola Magnetic Tiles

Magnetic tiles have been in rotation at our house for years. They are one of the few toys that work for different ages and never seem to lose their appeal. I love that kids can decorate these!

Mini Magnetic Tiles

If you do not already have a good set of magnetic tiles, Easter is a great excuse to get some. These are my kids' most played with toy.

Glitter Dot Markers

These feel special because of the sparkle, but they are still easy to use and not overly messy. A fun little creative add in that feels different than regular markers.

Easter Bath Bombs

Bath bombs make bath time extra fun, and I love finding ones that match the holiday theme.

Pool and Summer Ready

Mermaid Pool Toys

These make swim days more imaginative and keep kids busy in the pool a little longer. They are small enough to fit easily in a basket, and they are used all summer long.

Goggles

These aren't flashy, but they're always needed. I like putting practical swim gear in baskets because it saves me from buying it later when we are rushing out the door.

Sun Bum Lip Balm

This is one of those small things that ends up being used constantly. I keep extras in beach bags, backpacks, and the car. It feels fun but is actually useful. The tinted lip balm is great for teens.

I would love to hear what you are putting in baskets this year. I am always looking for ideas that make the day feel meaningful without overdoing it!

Keep exploring,
Amy

Thank you!

Explore More of Kansas and Missouri! Hello and Happy Spring! We just got home from Spring Break and are getting back into the swing of things before I head out to travel again. This week, I want to talk to you about my Kansas and Missouri maps. I asked 5,000 people what their biggest problems were that held them back from exploring more.
